I think it is interesting to compare the advertising used in America for the Army recruitment stuff and the advertising used in other countries. I just wonder if what the US does it that different from other countries or really every country follows some similar recruitment guidelines, you know?

I don't think it is fair to talk about the Army as "advertising" when they are not selling something, you know? You join because you want to serve your country. Period. You don't join because you want their "product." What does that even mean?

The army is selling something... It is selling itself to millions of americans who feel the army is the only way out.

Recruiters are in High Schools selling themselves and the army to impressionable teenagers everyday. The army spends money on T.V., internet and print commercials, pamphlets, recruiter stations, mobile operation stations, and army experience centers; they clearly want their product, which is your service, to be sold.

I agree with G.M. Recruiters are trained as professional salesmen. This is not meant to offend, its just the truth. The recruiters are chosen because they can appeal to impressionable youths and make joining the army sound amazing - Being all I can be... and getting paid.

I don't know... on the one hand, I love the Army ads. They are really convincing and help make sure we have soldiers to fight our wars. But on the other hand, why do we need to sell the Army? Shouldn't fighting for democracy sell itself?

I don't understand why people have a problem with the army advertising. Just like any big corporation they need to build their brand and be out there doing it otherwise they won't get new recruiters.
